Women’s Work / Trabajo de Mujeres
Cousins Juliana Cruz Cruz (front row, left to right), Gracia Cruz MartÃnez and Esther Cruz Cruz dig and break apart clay that they use to make pottery. They sell the pottery in the market in the Zapotec town of San Marcos Tlapazola in the Central Valley of Oaxaca. Each woman has a husband, brother or son working in the United States. Standing behind the women is a mother-in-law, overseeing the women’s activities.
